City of Westminster
Tricaster Broadcast Production

Scope of Work
HCLV is excited to share the details of our recent work with the City of Westminster to upgrade their broadcast production capabilities. As part of our ongoing partnership, we were tasked with replacing the county’s existing Broadcast Pix system with an industry-standard Tricaster TC1 Broadcast Production Unit, bringing professional-grade broadcast capabilities to their operations.
Project Highlights:
-
Tricaster TC1 Production Switch: The Tricaster TC1 production switch was installed in the broadcast rack, replacing the aging Broadcast Pix unit. This powerful switch offers advanced features and higher flexibility, ensuring the City can deliver top-tier broadcast productions across their media platforms.
-
Tricaster Flex Controller: To replace the Broadcast Pix control board, a Tricaster Flex Controller was installed on the broadcast table. This controller provides a more intuitive and versatile user interface, streamlining the control of live productions.
-
Signal Conversion and Routing:
-
A Decimator was installed in the broadcast rack to convert the HDMI program feed to SDI, enabling smooth ingest into the Tricaster.
-
Another Decimator was added to convert the SDI output signal back to HDMI, allowing seamless integration into the AMX AVoIP system for broader signal distribution across the facility.
-
-
Video Transmission Reliability: To ensure optimal video transmission, a Netgear SFP+ module was installed in the top Netgear switch in the rack. The switch was factory-defaulted and configured for NDI, and all cameras were moved to this switch for optimal performance and video network reliability.
-
Training and Commissioning: Understanding the importance of smooth transitions, we coordinated with Newtek to schedule training, ensuring the team was fully prepared to operate the new system. A three-week notice was provided for the training request, and we allocated one full day for installation followed by a training session the next day to ensure seamless system handover.
Outcome:
This upgrade provided the City of Westminster with a highly capable, professional-grade broadcast production system that meets current industry standards. The Tricaster TC1, combined with the upgraded signal routing and NDI network, ensures more reliable and flexible video production, supporting the county’s communication and broadcast needs with enhanced quality and efficiency.
We are proud to have contributed to the modernization of their broadcast infrastructure and look forward to continuing to support the City of Westminster in the future.
