Lead AV Technician (Superintendent)

Job description

We’re looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Lead AV Technician (Superintendent) with at least 2 years of proven experience leading commercial AV installations. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the installation, quality, and troubleshooting of complex audio-visual systems and network infrastructure in commercial environments.

In this Role, You Will

  • Report directly to the Project Manager.
  • Lead a team of AV technicians, taking full responsibility for their work and ensuring project success.
  • Perform and oversee the installation, termination, and testing of various low-voltage cabling, including data (Cat 5/6), audio, video (HDMI, SDI), and control cables.
  • Mount and install AV equipment such as displays, projectors, speakers, and equipment racks according to specifications and industry best practices.
  • Accurately interpret and work from blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Ensure quality installations by double-checking work, testing, and effective troubleshooting.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate risks before they impact project timelines or quality.
  • Provide training and guidance to new team members.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment on all job sites.
  • Represent the company professionally and communicate effectively with clients and other team members.

Required Qualifications

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in a lead tech or superintendent role.
  • Strong understanding of low-voltage cabling standards and best practices.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Experience with mounting various AV devices and equipment securely and aesthetically.
  • Solid skills in rack wiring, cable termination, and organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot audio, video, cabling, and basic network systems.
  • Able to critically problem solve and make decisions with little guidance.
  • A strong work ethic with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 Construction certification
  • AVIXA CTS-I certification
  • BICSI certification
  • Other industry or manufacturer certifications/trainings

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $30.00 – $45.00 per hour
